New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is reportedly bracing for a major suspension of at least six games from the NFL.

The suspension is pertaining to events that happened over Pro Bowl weekend, per Pro Football Talk.

While much of the focus around the league is on Deshaun Watson, and rightly so, Kamara’s camp thinks he could receive a suspension of around six games.

The incident Kamara is being suspended for happened in Las Vegas over Pro Bowl weekend, in which he was involved in a fight outside a casino. He was initially arrested and charged with “resulting in substantial bodily harm.”

Saints: How long could Alvin Kamara be suspended?

Kamara was interviewed by detectives after the Pro Bowl, as described by The Athletic:

“Kamara was interviewed by detectives inside Allegiant Stadium after the Pro Bowl. Kamara said the victim called one of the members of his group ugly and that the victim said “I’ll whoop your ass too.” Kamara told detectives he saw a fight break out next to him and saw the victim get punched, then punched him as well because he thought he was running away. Kamara said he did not know if he punched the victim while the victim was on the ground.”

After the incident, Roger Goodell said the league was reviewing the incident:

“Our security team was contacted by the police in Las Vegas just prior to the game saying they would like to meet with Alvin after the game,” he said at a press conference on Wednesday ahead of the Super Bowl. “Our team made sure that that happened.”

After said review, odds are the NFL will come down hard on Kamara. He can appeal, but the judge for said appeal is chosen by the league office, which won’t do the Saints running back any favors.

Without Kamara, the bulk of the rushing load would fall on veteran running back Mark Ingram.
